How to get the funding for your big trip

  • What about doing part of your degree overseas on an exchange? Apply for a travel grant through the international office at your university - they'll give you scholarship money if successful, that can be put towards your flight/accommodation etc.

  • Apply for a travel scholarship through your Rotary club.

  • Save like crazy. Our team felt setting a weekly savings target worked best. Open a high interest savings account and deposit into it each week. We have a whole section on saving for travel.
  • Everyone's favourite... ask for a loan from your parents.
  • Get a student loan.

  • Get a credit card - and use it as an interest free loan (provided you make your repayments on time). But note - if you've just quit your job in anticipation of your overseas trip and then try and get a credit card, you may find your application is rejected.

  • Think about being part of a volunteer program in developing countries. It's a big commitment, and will still cost you money - but can be an amazing experience if you have the commitment. Here's one programme that involves Australian students: Youth Challenge Australia.

HaylinHey guys - I'm looking for the fastest and cheapest way to get from Venice to Croatia - any ideas?
DaleHey Haylin, I think the cheapest way to do that is to catch the farry from Venice to Povec, it only takes 2.5 hours and I think it costs around $100.
